Life in the 18th Century
We would love to have your living historians join in our event. I was thinking you all could talk about life as a soldier and/or militia man, life in the camp with camp followers, or possibly work with the kids to teach and practice simple drills.
Christmas Illuminations
In preparation for Revolutionary War Weekend, we will be working on our field and camp impression. On the field, this will include musket drill and line maneuvers. New members will have the opportunity to train with their NCOs and be approved to fire their muskets at future events, including Revolutionary War Weekend. Civilians will focus on the camp's impression and the programs or activities being planned. Our Artillery section will attend and train on the cannon.
Rev War Weekend
Step back in time to meet Revolutionary War soldiers, watch 18th-century demonstrations, and experience what it was like during the American Revolution 250 years ago.
Mount Vernon Drill Day
Soldiers will perform musket drills and line maneuvers. Civilians will focus on the camp's impression and the programs or activities being planned. Our Artillery section will attend and train on the cannon.

First Virginia Annual Business Meeting
We will be holding our meeting at the OPMH, as we have the past few years. We will provide a virtual link in a subsequent email to the membership. Board members will be arriving at 10:45am to set up and hold a short meeting before lunch. Unit members are asked to arrive by 12pm for lunch, which will be provided. Members are asked to bring a side dish, dessert, drinks, or utensils to share.
The meeting, which will begin at 1pm, will include elections of the new Board of Governors, and the Committee on Publick Safeguards. Presentations will follow, including our QM's, safety standards, roster organization, recruiting and education, as well as an overview of the Board's activities and projects in 2025.
We will also have a presentation from our treasurer, who will be available to receive membership dues. Lastly, we will present and determine the schedule of events for the 2026 campaign season, copies of which will be provided at the meeting.
Parking will be available in the OPMH lot located at 419 S. Royal Street, or available street spaces. Plan to arrive early, and consider dropping off any items that you are bringing to the meeting at the site prior to parking. The meeting will be held in the administrative building, adjacent to the church, and accessible through the small garden off S. Fairfax and Wolfe Street. You can find more information about parking in Old Town at: https://www.alexandriava.gov/parking/parking-in-old-town-alexandria
